Połączone siły trampkarzy starszych i juniorów młodszych wzięły udział w turnieju BellSport Cup, w którym zmierzyły się m.in. z Chicago Fire czy AS Trencin. – Za nami dużo fajnego grania. Myślę, że dla każdego był to wartościowy wyjazd – ocenia trener Jasiński.
Portowcy na południe Polski udali się w mocno eksperymentalnym zestawieniu. Choć turniej skierowany był przede wszystkim do zawodników z rocznika 2004, to w kadrze Dumy Pomorza znaczącą siłę stanowili ich młodsi koledzy z zespołu U15. Kompletując kadrę na zakopiański turniej, szkoleniowcy Dumy Pomorza musieli bowiem pamiętać o starciu juniorów młodszych Pogoni z Lechem Poznań w Centralnej Lidze Juniorów U17.
– Lech Poznań nie zgodził się na przełożenie meczu ligowego, więc kilku zawodników z rocznika 2004 musiało zostać w Szczecinie. Aby skompletować kadrę, musieliśmy sięgnąć po chłopaków z rocznika 2005 – tłumaczy szkoleniowiec Pogoni. – Muszę szczerze przyznać, że jestem z nich zadowolony. Na pewno nie odstawali od starszych kolegów. Strzelali bramki, dawali asysty, napędzali naszą grę w ofensywie – dodaje.
Długa podróż do stolicy polskich Tatr oraz brak pełnego zgrania spowodowały, że Portowcy potrzebowali trochę czasu, by dobrze wejść w turniej. Prawdziwą jakość pokazali dopiero w meczu z aktualnym mistrzem Polski, Legią Warszawa, wcześniej ulegając Stali Rzeszów i słowackiemu Trenczynowi. – Szkoda, że tak się ten turniej ułożył, bo szybko straciliśmy szansę, by walczyć o najwyższe cele. Mecz z Legią udowodnił, że jak pokażemy swoją jakość w pełni i dołożymy do niej trochę charakteru, to jesteśmy w stanie wygrać z każdym – tłumaczy trener Jasiński.
Swoje umiejętności zawodnicy Dumy Pomorza potwierdzili drugiego dnia rywalizacji. Granatowo-bordowi najpierw ograli belgijski Royal Antwerp, a później byli bliscy pokonania ubiegłorocznego triumfatora turnieju – Chicago Fire. Słabsze wyniki z pierwszego dnia sprawiły jednak, że Portowcy uplasowali się dopiero na jedenastej pozycji.
– Jeszcze przed rozpoczęciem turnieju wiedzieliśmy, że nie jedziemy do Zakopanego w roli faworytów. Nie wystąpiliśmy w najsilniejszym zestawieniu i traktowaliśmy poszczególne mecze jako okazję do zdobycia cennego doświadczenia. Uważam jednak, że gdybyśmy w paru meczach pokazali więcej determinacji i jakości, mogliśmy liczyć na coś więcej – ocenia trener Pogoni. – Ogólnie jesteśmy zadowoleni z udziału w turnieju. Za nami dużo fajnego grania z zagranicznymi zespołami, które prezentują inną kulturę grania. Myślę, że dla każdego z chłopaków był to wartościowy wyjazd. Oby więcej takiego grania – podsumowuje.
